Financial Support for Self-Financed International Students

This grant is provided to support Privately-Financed International Students facing economic difficulties and to assist with their academic journey and daily life.

Grant Amount

500,000 yen (One-time payment only)

Number of Recipients

20 students per semester

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:

1. Enrollment Status

A privately-financed international student who falls under any of the following:

  • Enrolling in a regular course in October 2026
  • Entering UF as a research student and progressing to a regular course from October 2026

Note: Current students already enrolled in a regular course at UF who are continuing to a higher degree are not eligible.

2. Nationality

Applicants must hold citizenship in one of the following countries or regions:

  • Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, or Timor-Leste
  • South Asia: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, or Maldives
  • Africa: Countries in the African region as defined by the United Nations

3. Financial Status

Applicants must not be receiving other scholarships equal to or greater than the MEXT Scholarship.

Repayment may be required if you withdraw or are expelled within one year of enrollment, receive disciplinary action, or if false information is found in your application.
